Deb Lichtenstein
I have been painting with oils for over 20 years. I have studied with numerous artists and through the Newport Art Museum. I continue to work with regional artist Trish Hurley.
I divide my painting time between painting en plein air in the warmer months and studio time painting larger landscapes, cows and assorted animals in the winter. In the past few years I have enjoyed painting landscapes that are more abstract.
Plein air painting - is to capture the essence of the area I am standing in – the air, the light, etc. It is a constant challenge as the light is always changing. Living on an island, much of my plein air work includes the ocean and the play of light on the water.
I show my work locally in Rhode Island and have shown at numerous venues in Boston. I have been selected to participate in numerous juried shows and have won three Honorable Mention awards. In 2021 I was included in a member invitational show at South County Art Association. My work has been published in “Balancing the Tides”, an art and literary Journal.
